Hi, I'm going to keep myself anonymous but I am the creator and founder of Let's Talk! I thought what a better way to practice what I preach and share one of my stories! So here I go!
Think about this, living in your 3rd country and going to your 7th school ever, might be hard right? That's exactly where my story starts. Anyone who's moved to a different place while being in school knows how hard it is to feel a part of the new place/join you join! The first time that happened to me, which was when I moved from Dubai, UAE to Toronto, Canada, the initial move wasn't that rough. That was probably because I was 8 at the time, but I still ended up missing a lot of the friends I made in my 3 schools back home in Dubai! The hardest of the 6 moves of schools, was probably the one from Canada to Texas. This might be for a multitude of reasons, two of which that come to mind right now. One of the reasons might be that the school system in Texas quite frankly hit me as hard as a rock. The curriculum difference here in Texas verses here in Canada is quite astonishing. It's VERY different. So, it took me a while, freshman year, to settle into how the school worked in Texas. The second reason, and the reason that probably hurt the most was that I had to leave a friend group that was pretty close to me. Now, don't get me wrong, I knew that the friend group I was in in Canada wouldn't last forever, I just hoped that we would've stayed friends for longer. But that's besides the point, my thought was that leaving people who once (not anymore) meant so much to me, impacted what and how I was doing mentally. Not only was I missing my friends, the person I missed the most at this time was my brother, and he is quite frankly the reason why I am over everything that happened freshman year (and before that!)
So, thank you for listening to (part) of my story! Hope after reading this, you'll feel a little bit better and feel like you have a place in this world!
